Contrade Dinnerware
Siena's seventeen historical districts, known as Contrade, compete bianually in a horse race called Palio. In this race, the Contrade attempt to dethrone the previous winner. Every Contrada has its own emblem which is represented by a colerful bannner with an animal at its center. These traditional Siena emblems are depicted on this collection of plates.
